In the valley of Mae Sariang in the Northwest of Thailand, 250 kilometres to the west of Chiang Mai, two schools are located: Baan Kapoeang and Baan Phe. Both are as poor as the children’s parents, who cannot pay tuition costs. There is little money available. The little government money the school receives is mostly used to provide for school lunches and books. Larger investments like water tanks or water treatment installations fall through again and again. Older concrete water tanks are often infected and pumps malfunction.
In February 2003 Samsara installed PVC water tanks, water treatment machines, pumps and accessories at each schools for 35,000 baht.
