Old dormotary

 Dormitories, Children and their parents build a dormitory together.
In the rainy season it is very dangerous or almost impossible to take the steep road down. “In the rainy season I stay at the school during the weekend and I’ll tell you, that’s not always great fun.”

Destroyed by flood

Rebuilding of the dormitory, One morning in May 2004, head teacher Chamrat of the primary school in Long Pe heard a strange rumble in the distance. The rumble swelled and suddenly it occurred to him that is was the sound of water and breaking trees.

Safe drinking water for schools in Mae Sariang, In the valley of Mae Sariang in the Northwest of Thailand, 200 kilometres to the west of Chiang Mai, two schools are located: Baan Kapoeang and Baan Phe. Both are as poor as the children’s parents, who cannot pay tuition costs. There is little money available.

Good drinking water also available in the dry season, The small village Baan Mae Sawan Luang is inhabited by Karen, the largest group of hill people in Thailand. Three years ago, the village received its first primary school. The school has ample water available in the rainy season, but in the four-month-long dry season things change dramatically.

New canteens and kitchens for better hygiene, There was one school building in Baan Chaw Poo a remote Karen and Hmong village. And next to it, under a piece of corrugated sheet were two toilets, one for girls and one for boys. That was all. Study rooms: sharing one book, The school in Ban Liam asked for a library that could also be used as a place where pupils could do homework. They also wanted a corner of it equipped with a bed and some medicines to use as a medical post for children

Scholarships for 25 children

Scholarships for 25 children, Samsara supports 25 children to continue their study at middle schools and at a vocational school for computer skills in Mae Sariang. The scholarships started in 2003. One girl who received a scholarship is Oiphon, who studied at a vocational school where she learned computer skills.
